FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: process includes heating of lubricant in presence of air, mixing, photometric measurement and determination of parameters for evaluation of oxidation process. Constant-volume specimen is tested at optimal temperature in the course of time characterizing equal degree of oxidation. Specimens of oxidized lubricant are taken in equal time intervals , coefficient of absorption of light flux by oxidized lubricant is found by optometric measurement, graphic dependence of change of coefficient of absorption of light flux on test time is constructed, line of dependence is extended after inflection point to crossing with abscissa axis and time of start of formation of insoluble impurities is found by abscissa of this point. Inflection point of this dependence is used to determine time of start of coagulation of insoluble impurities and resource of serviceability of lubricant is established by ultimate value of coefficient of absorption of light flux.
