SUBSTANCE: method involves testing a sample of the lubricant at optimum temperature, photometering a sample of oxidised lubricant, weighing the lubricant sample after equal time intervals, determination of the mass of evaporated lubricant and determination of thermal oxidative stability from the coefficient of oxidation resistance.
EFFECT: more reliable determination of thermal oxidative stability of lubricants due to determination of the coefficient of oxidation resistance, which takes into account rate of conversion of heat energy into oxidation and evaporation products.
