FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention is related to technology of assessment of liquid lubricants quality. In method sample of lubricant is tested with presence of air with mixing at optimal temperature, which is selected depending on basic vehicle of lubricant and group of operational properties, during time that characterises identical extent of oxidation. Tests of lubricant are carried out at least at three temperatures below critical, relative viscosity is determined as ratio of oxidised lubricant viscosity to viscosity of the initial one, and thermal-oxidative stability is determined by index of ratio of luminous flux absorption coefficient to relative viscosity, graphical dependence of thermal-oxidative stability on coefficient of luminous flux absorption is built, by which uniformity of oxidation products composition is determined as well as temperature area of investigated lubricant operability.

EFFECT: creation of efficient method for assessment of lubricants quality.
