FIELD: labeling various items to identify them and protect against counterfeit and falsification. SUBSTANCE: method involves formation of individual information fields on item by sticking information media to item surfaces bearing microlabels applied thereon in advance and read out in the process with aid of optical system. Each label is essentially information medium attached to item surface for its visual reading, surface area of each information medium ranging between 0.1 and 10 sq. mm; information is applied on outer or inner surface of information medium for reading it with aid of optical system; to this end information medium is dipped in adhesive, covered on all sides with shielding adhesive layer transparent in solid state, and attached to item surface by means of this adhesive.
