FIELD: transport engineering; prevention of unauthorized use of automobiles by provision of coded marking. SUBSTANCE: identification code consists of set of 8 - 14 characters made in inner layer of glazing by changing material layer structure and arranged in glazing plane. Identification code is located inside glazing either horizontally or vertically or at angle to corresponding section of glass weather strip, and representation sign is made before or after identification code. Method of code making consists in local irradiation pf part of automobile glasses by coherent radiation and forming identification code image inside material subjected to irradiation. prior to irradiation, energy of coherent radiation required for disturbing the structure of material layer is determined for inner layer material, focal surface for application of identification code is found and radiation bundle is focused on focal surface of inner layer of glass concentrating radiation energy in focal point and subjecting inner layer material to irradiation in this point until its structure is changed to obtain element image visible at common illumination. Then radiation bundle is shifted to other focal point according to identification code pattern and process is repeated until image of identification code is obtained on inner layer of glass.
