SUBSTANCE: insulating compound for communication cables such as those for transmitting data, video or audio signals, single-strand telephone wire, and communication cable including plurality of single-strand telephone wires covered with insulating compound incorporates in its composition multimodal mixture of polyolefins obtained by polymerization including more than one stage of at least one alpha-olefin whose density is at least 0.920 0.965 g/cu. cm, melt yield (MY2) of about 0.25 g/10 min, RMY21/2≥60, and crack resistance under external stresses of minimum 500 h in compliance with ASTM D 1693 A/10% Igepal); mentioned mixture of polyolefins includes at least first and second polyolefins of which first one is either (a) low-molecular polyolefin having density of about 0.925 0.975 d/cu. cm, melt yield (MY2) of about 300 20 000 g/10 min, or (b) high-molecular polyolefin having density of about 0.880 0.950 g/ cu. cm and melt yield (MY21) of about 0.5 20 g/10 min.
