APPARATUS FOR CONTINUOUS CASTING OF STRIP Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

FIELD: metallurgy, namely casting strips in machines for continuous casting with two cylinders-rolls. SUBSTANCE: cylinders are mounted with gap one relative to another. Casting space is restricted by cylinders and lateral walls. Lateral wall is solid one and it is made with possibility of moving it in direction parallel relative to axes of cylinders. Surface of protruded zone of lateral wall turned to casting space has two portions along its height. Upper portion is inclined to vertical plane normal relative to surfaces of cylinders by angle 0 - 3 degrees; lower portion is inclined by angle 5 - 10 degrees. Relation of length of upper portion to length of lower portion is in range 2 - 15. Thickness of protruded zone of lateral wall consists 0.001 - 0.02 of cylinder diameter. Invention provides high quality of strip without trimming its edges. EFFECT: simplified design, enhanced manufacturing possibilities of apparatus. 3 cl, 3 dwg
