FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: moulding boxes are transported to a moulding place. Match plates are blown and covered with a separating compound. Moulding boxes are installed on match plates and filled with a moulding mixture. They are compacted by shaking and pre-pressing. Ventilation ducts are made in an upper half-mould; a filter, a shape-forming rod and a head insert from isothermic or exothermic mixture are installed. The head insert is installed in a mounting seat aligned with a sump, which is made in the significant part of the shape-forming rod. On the side surface of the head insert there is an opening for side feed of a cast, which projects beyond limits of the head insert towards the cavity of the cast and forms the head neck. The head neck and the head under the insert are located in one half-mould.
EFFECT: reducing metal consumption of a pouring feed system and improving its operation efficiency.
