FIELD: wood-working industry. SUBSTANCE: in the method for manufacture of a composite wood product the mat is formed of wood chips processed by a binder. The mat is charged in the cavity of pressing formed between two pressing plates. The first pressing plate represents a hot pressing plate having no passages. The plate may be smooth or with a pattern for imparting the relief of the finished surface on the product. The other pressing plate has passages for steam injection. The cavity of pressing may be sealed. The mat is completely sealed. Heat supplied from the first pressing plate to the first side of the mat evaporates moisture in a section of the mat thickness nearest to the first side causing a considerable expansion of the moisture volume. The expanded volume is removed through the opposite side of the mat for discharge of the air caught from the mat. Steam expansion is ventilated from the mat with the aid of the passages for steam injection removing the caught air and moisture. After removal of the caught air the cavity of pressing is sealed and the amount of steam from the external source is injected with the aid of the passages for steam injection to the mat at a sufficient pressure and during a sufficient time period for hardening of the binder. The amount of steam the external source is removed from the amt with the aid of the passages for steam injection before the cavity of pressing would be depressurized. EFFECT: enhanced output of composite wood products. 41 cl, 1 tbl
