FIELD: wood-working industry. SUBSTANCE: a mat of wood fibers impregnated with a binder is formed. The mat is changed in a mould formed by two pressing boards. The first pressing board is a usual hot molding board, which has no any hole. The usual board may be smooth or provided with a pattern for stamping of one surface of the finished product. The other pressing board is a steam injection board with steam injection holes. The mould is sealed with a subsequent total packing of the mat. The first volume of steam is injected under pressure during a time period sufficient to raise the temperature at of a section of the mat in thickness up to 100C. The injected steam is discharged from the mat through the steam injection holes with removal of entrained air and moisture. The second volume of steam is injected into the mat through the steam injection holes under pressure and during a time period sufficient for hardening of the binder. The second volume of steam discharged from mat through the steam injection holes before opening of the mould. EFFECT: improved properties of the finished product. 31 cl, 1 tbl
