FIELD: industrial organic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to catalytic conversion of aliphatic alcohols into C4-C16-isoalkane mixture according to two options. In the first one, 40-60% aqueous solution of ethanol comes into contact, in carbon dioxide medium at 350-380 C, pressure 8-12 atm, and volume flow rate 0.2-0.8 C4-C16, with catalytic composition consisting of (i) hydride phase of iron-titanium intermetallic compound modified with group IV-VIII metals and (ii) gamma-alumina taken in weight proportion 10: 1. According to the second option, 40-60% aqueous solution of ethanol/isobutyl alcohol/isopentyl alcohol mixture in weight proportion 6:1: 2 comes into contact, in inert gas medium at 300-420 C, pressure 30-80 atm, and volume flow rate 0.2-0.8 h-1, with above-mentioned catalytic composition additionally containing industrial alumino-platinum catalyst at weight ratio of components in composition 10:1:1.
