FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method of converting isobutanol to obtain a mixture of C2-C4 olefins and BTX. Method involves contacting isobutanol in a reactor with a catalyst which contains microporous zeolite MFI. Catalyst used is a composite based on microporous zeolite and mesoporous silicon carbide — MFI/SiC, which is characterized by: porous structure — volume of micropores 0.15–0.18 cm3/g and mesopores 0.05–0.07 cm3/g, content of strong acid centers 368–380 mcmol/g, with total content of acid centers equal to 714–728 mcmol/g, and contact is carried out at temperature of 580–620 °C at weight rate of isobutanol supply of 2.5–2.9 h-1 and supply of nitrogen to the reactor.
EFFECT: disclosed method increases propylene output, as well as output of C2-C4 olefins, BTX fractions and total output of C2-C4 olefins and BTX.
