FIELD: welding processes and equipment, namely C-shaped rod type tongs for contact spot welding built in rotor of gyroscope of adaptive robot, possibly manufacture of bodies and cabs of automobiles, railway road cars and so on. SUBSTANCE: tongs are built in adaptive robot. Holder with extension piece 15 and with bracket electrode is mounted on bracket of tongs. The last includes cylinder for preliminarily forcing electrode to bead of article before beginning welding cycle for each spot; holder having extension piece 15 and rod electrode and secured to rod of power pneumatic cylinder with compression piston and with piston for additionally opening electrodes; small size welding transformer; two units of tactile probes and pickups arranged at both sides of tongs plane passing through axes of extension pieces 5 and 15 and through axes of electrodes. Extension pieces 5, 15 are telescopic ones. It is possible to arrange and regulate closing-up point of electrodes at front and at back sides of holders with desired eccentricity value of electrode closing-up point relative to rotation axis of gyro rotor. Rotation axis of tongs is matched with tongs plane and it passes in parallel relative to axes of extension pieces 5, 15 through their closing-up point. EFFECT: lowered labor consumption due to automatization of contact spot electric welding of elongated beads with constant or variable width independently upon their curvature. 4 cl, 8 dwg
