FIELD: means testing authenticity of data carrier. SUBSTANCE: invention refers to microcircuit card. According to invention encoded form of distinctive sign of data carrier is stored in data carrier. Encoded form of distinctive sign is sent to terminal which establishes mentioned distinctive sign. Distinctive sign is ciphered by secret code and is decoded in terminal by means of general code. Decoded distinctive sign is compared with distinctive sign established by terminal and their coincidence establishes authenticity of data carrier. High degree of protection is provided as secret code is not contained either in data carrier or in terminal. EFFECT: high degree of protection of data carrier. 1 dwg
