FIELD: alloy metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: proposed process is characterized by introducing into charge boron oxide in amount 0.25-0.45% of the weight of calcium oxide in charge, boron oxide being added simultaneously with loading of ore-lime potion of charge. As a result, temperature of liquid phase formation and temperature of complete melting of ore-lime potion of charge are lowered upon smelting of refined ferrochrome to produce slag containing, after cooling, stabilized high-temperature forms of dicalcium silicate. EFFECT: increased economical efficiency of smelting, reduced losses of metal with slag, and stabilized structure of slag suitable for use in manufacture of building and abrasive materials. 2 cl, 2 tbl
