FIELD: pyrometallurgy, particularly, production of ferroalloys; applicable in production of ferrochrome from powdery (finely divided) chrome iron ores and concentrates. SUBSTANCE: method is characterized by the fact that prior to loading of charge, melt reaction volume is formed based on halides of alkali and alkali-earth metals. In this case, halides of alkali and alkali-earth metals are used in the form of calcium fluoride (fluorspar). The method provides for production of ferrochrome from powdery chrome iron ore or its concentrate with particles sizing less than 10 mm. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 1 ex
