FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: muffler housing is made of sheet metal turned into spiral and provided with center hole. Clearance is left between turns of spiral to pass gas flow. Edges of sheet are bent and connected at assembling. Closed space is formed between turns in sections where edges are connected. Mounting of end face walls is not required. EFFECT: reduced labor input in manufacture of muffler. 3 cl, 4 dwg
