SELF-CLEANING BOLT Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to threaded fasteners and it can be used at assembling when turning bolt into nut. Proposed selfcleaning bolt consists of head 1, and body 2. Body 2 has cylindrical neck 6, plain part 7 and threaded part 8 terminating in transfer section from plain cylindrical guide collar 3 to threaded part with cone angle α = 20÷30^°. Two cleaning recesses of length equal to 3-4 thread pitch values are made on threaded part 8. Recesses are made with equal depth and flat bottom, are parallel and are located on opposite sides at a distance from each other equal to 0.9-1.0 of minimum inner diameter of bolt body thread. Angle of cutting part simulating front angle of thread cutting tool is 10-25. Diameter of plain cylindrical guide collar is equal to 0.9-0.95 of distance between recesses. EFFECT: improved quality of assembling, reduced possibility of seizure, when turning bolt into threaded hole, improved quality of thread cleaning from foreign matter, decreased tightening torque at initial and following stage of assembling. 2 cl, 4 dwg
