FIELD: antenna engineering; radio systems with large antennas. SUBSTANCE: novelty is introduction of high-strength radio-transparent frame in lens structure which makes it possible to construct large-diameter lenses, including those of more than 10 m in diameter, from polymeric foamed dielectric materials having low strength characteristics and even from loose dielectric media. High-strength frame is assembled of layers of vertical plates made of polymeric sheet dielectric intersecting at right angle; these layers are separated from each other by horizontal plates of same material; dielectric constant of frame is changed by changing plate material density; to this end holes with variable distances between their axes are drilled in them. Spaces formed by frame plates are filled with assembly modules of homogeneous foamed dielectric or loose dielectric in sequence specified by proposed equation. EFFECT: enhanced strength and operating stability; improved radio characteristics. 5 cl, 5 dwg
