METHOD FOR EXTRACTING OF METAL FROM ORE OR CONCENTRATE Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

FIELD: extraction of metal from ore or concentrate comprising nickel and/or cobalt and other metals. SUBSTANCE: method involves acid leaching of ore or concentrate under pressure for producing of liquid comprising nickel and/or cobalt and other metals from suspension produced by oxidation under pressure; providing first stage of settling liquid with pH value of 5-6 for producing of solid substance comprising metals other than nickel and cobalt and solution comprising nickel and/or cobalt; providing second stage of settling resultant solution with pH value of 7-8 for producing of solid substance comprising nickel and/or cobalt and nickel and cobalt depleted liquid. Acid leaching process is carried out with pH value less than 2 for obtaining of liquid with pH value less than 2 and comprising substantially the entire amount of nickel and/or cobalt together with copper and/or zinc in case such metals are available in ore or concentrate.
