FIELD: spectral instrumentation engineering. SUBSTANCE: generator incorporates power supply circuit, circuit forming arc current including LC circuit, electrodes connected in parallel with capacitor of LC circuit, key transistors, current-sensitive resistor with operational amplifier connected to it, unit forming high-voltage pulse of ignition of arc current, control unit. Circuit forming arc current is supplemented with multilevel comparator and special processor computing root-mean-square drop of voltage across resistor. EFFECT: capability to set arc current of required value before initiation of arc, high efficiency of generator. 2 cl, 2 dwg
