FIELD: means for protecting securities and other valuables against unauthorized reproduction or counterfeit. SUBSTANCE: protective device has holographic structure that generates optically variable effects and is built of at least two sections. Its illumination with white light produces image of two holographic elements disposed on or near plane adjacent to or aligned with that of device. Under coherent light sections produce latent images in the form of characters whose planes are spaced apart from physical plane of device; latent images are recovered at different angles to normal of device supporting base causing spatial division of latent images into their display planes.
