WELDING TRACTOR AND METHOD FOR WELDING ANNULAR SEAMS OF PRODUCTS BY MEANS OF WELDING TRACTOR Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

FIELD: welding processes and equipment, namely automatic welding of annular seams. SUBSTANCE: in hopper of welding tractor there is apparatus for turning on and off drive unit of roller bed including housing, pendulum secured to axle and arranged between two limit switches. In platforms arranged on two elongated mutually parallel tie rods of front underframe of welding tractor there is steering mechanism having electric motor and sensor for tracking butt. Wire is wound on shaft of electric motor; ends of said wire are secured to cross tie rod joined with lengthwise tie rods driving front wheels of tractor. By means of sensor for tracking butt deviation of welding tractor relative to axis of welded butt is continuously registered. When said deviation is out of preset range motion direction of welding tractor is corrected by means of electric signal supplied to circuit of electric motor of steering mechanism. At welding inner annular seams when lagging of welding tractor from rotation of welded article is admissible, pendulum of apparatus for turning on and off drive unit of roller bed shifts forwards, forces front limit switch and turns off drive unit of roller bed. At leading of welding tractor, pendulum shifts backwards, forces rear limit switch of drive unit of roller bed and turns on drive unit. At welding outer annular seams when lagging of welding tractor from rotation of welded article is admissible, pendulum shifts backwards, forces rear limit switch and turns off drive unit of roller bed. At admissible leading of welding tractor pendulum shifts forwards, forces front limit switch and turns on drive unit of roller bed.
