FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method for preparing derivatives of indanedione-1,3 used as highly toxic rodentocides for control of harmful rodents. Method involves condensation of dimethylphthalate with 1,1-(para-substituted phenyl)-phenylacetone in the presence of sodium alcoholate, aromatic solvent, distillation off of alcohol azeotrope and aromatic solvent in the process of condensation reaction, benzene addition, cooling mixture to 20-30 C, separation of indanedione sodium salt from organic impurities and benzene by filtration followed by drying under vacuum, additional dissolving in hot water and filtration to remove phthalic acid, acidification with strong acid, cooling product and its filtration under vacuum, washing out with hot water to neutral reaction of washing out waters and drying under vacuum up to required moisture content of prepared indanedione-1,3 powder. Method provides preparing indanediones without organic impurities. EFFECT: improved preparing method. 7 cl, 5 ex
