FIELD: mining industry. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to determining palladium and platinum in ores containing large amounts of iron, copper, zinc, and other metals. For that aim, in a method including nitrohydrochloric acid-assisted decomposition, evaporation, dissolution in aqueous hydrochloric acid, and measuring contents of metals using technique of atomic absorption spectrometry with electrothermal atomization. According to invention, nitrohydrochloric acidassisted decomposition is preceded by decomposition of ore with hydrofluoric and nitric acids. Solution is evaporated to achieve wet salts and extracted with 0.5-2.5% solution of undecylthiouronium chloride in 80:20 toluene/isoamyl alcohol mixture, after which shaken up and settled during 0.5 h. Palladium is determined in organic phase and platinum in hydrochloric acid solution. EFFECT: increased analytic accuracy. 4 dwg, 2 ex
