FIELD: methodology evaluating residual life of metal of pipes of trunk pipe-line meant for reuses. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes manufacture of specimens, mechanical testing and determination of residual life. Pipes are formed in this case in lot of same brand of steel, same nominal diameter and wall thickness, pipes of maximal diameters are selected from this lot. Pipe displaying maximal average values of hardness and coercive force is selected by method of nondestructive testing for manufacture of specimens and conducting of mechanical testing of two groups of specimens. One group of specimens is subjected to thermal treatment and residual life of achievement of rated values of mechanical properties of metal of pipes is established by computation. EFFECT: increased accuracy and reduced labor input to establishment of residual life of metal of pipes meant for re-use. 2 dwg, 2 tbl
