FIELD: converter engineering; power supply to dc loads. SUBSTANCE: converter has ac voltage supply and rectifier built of several diodes forming rectifier arms; it also has ripple inductor that functions both to smooth down rectifier current ripples and to limit external and internal short-circuit currents; inductor has wound magnetic core whose winding is divided into several identical electrically isolated coils whose number equals that of rectifier arms; each coil that can be made of wires having smaller sectional areas is connected in series with respective-arm diodes.
