DEVICE FOR DETECTING ICE ON CONDUCTORS AND GROUND WIRES OF POWER TRANSMISSION LINES Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

Abstract RU 2227953 C2

FIELD: electrical engineering; ice detection on conductors and ground wires of power transmission lines. SUBSTANCE: receiver and transmitter are installed on one end of line route; transmitter is, essentially, probing radio pulse generator that has power amplifier and probing pulse shaper which is program-controlled by personal computer through input/output device from its basic-frequency and length control outputs. Probing radio pulses have two basic frequencies changing one into other without phase interruption. In addition power amplifier output is connected through junction device to line route. Connected to junction device is input of transmit-receive switch whose output is connected to inputs of basic-frequency receiving channels incorporating two input filters, the latter being connected through amplifiers to inputs of respective matching filters. Outputs of matching filters are connected to inputs of respective amplitude detectors whose outputs are connected to inputs of respective peak detectors. The latter are connected to first and second basic- frequency processing inputs of input/output device which is connected through bidirectional data exchange bus to personal computer.
