FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: method includes transfer of a high-frequency signal along power transmission line from the line beginning to the line end, and monitoring parameters related to change of high-frequency signal propagation along section of wire as glaze ice appears. Damping of the high-frequency signal is monitored by sensors located at supports of the overhead transmission line at certain distance, and the section of the line with glaze ice formed and thickness of glazed ice lump at this section are identified against damping value increase between the two sensors limiting this section.
