FIELD: organic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: exotetrahydrocyclopentadiene, which is fit as hydrocarbon fuel and starting monomers for preparation of biologically active substances, is prepared via catalytic isomerization of endotetrahydrocyclopentadiene, which is brought into contact with activated powdered aluminum in presence of carbon tetrachloride at molar ratio aluminum/carbon tetrachloride/endotetrahydrocyclopentadiene equal to 27.5:100: 17.5 under an argon atmosphere at 40 C and atmospheric pressure. Catalytic system consisting of activated aluminum and polychloromethane is proposed as catalyst. EFFECT: increased yield of exotetrahydrocyclopentadiene at low temperatures and atmospheric pressure.
