SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing diamantane (pentacyclo[7.3.1.14,12.02,7.06,11]tetradecane) by catalytic hydroisomerization of endo-endo-heptacyclo[8.4.0.02,12.03,8.04,6.05,9.011,13]tetradecane (binor-S). Method is characterized by that concentrated sulfuric acid is used as catalyst, reaction is carried out at molar ratio [binor-S]:[H2SO4]:[solvent]=[1]:[10]÷20]:[10], at 20÷40°C for 7÷15 hours.
EFFECT: readily available catalyst is used; the method is carried out in a single step under mild reaction conditions; the output of diamantane reaches 65%.
