FIELD: hydraulic construction, particularly sub-sea hydraulic pipeline laying in sea shelf with severe ice conditions. SUBSTANCE: method involves digging out trench having depth not less than icehummock penetration depth and not more than 2-3 pipeline diameters, placing pipeline on trench bottom, transporting curved steel sheet connected to piles from water-craft used for pipeline laying onto pipeline until pile ends abutment against soil for forming protective cover over pipeline having longitudinal axis parallel to pipeline axis; applying downward force upon cover by means of vibrating driver; filling trench with soil. EFFECT: reduced labor consumption, decreased cost, provision of desired operating reliability. 3 dwg
