FIELD: polymer production. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to manufacturing monomers, in particular propylene carbonate used in production of novel polymer: poly(propylene carbonate). Propylene carbonate is obtained via continuous propylene oxide carboxylation with carbon dioxide in presence of, as catalyst, unsubstituted or tert-butyl-substituted phthalocyanine-aluminum chloride on inert carrier, in particular granulated adsorbent: Zelite 535. Process is conducted at 150 C, pressure 40 at, and carbon dioxide-to-propylene oxide molar ratio about 144:1. EFFECT: prolonged catalyst lifetime and increased yield of product. 3 dwg, 2 ex
