Propylene carbonate is obtained via continuous propylene oxide carboxylation with carbon dioxide in presence of, as catalyst, unsubstituted or tert-butyl-substituted phthalocyanine-aluminum chloride on inert carrier, in particular granulated adsorbent: Zelite 535.
