FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to hydraulic impact machines with adjustable impact parameters which can be used for driving in metal pipes at trenchless laying of service lines. According to proposed method including changing of reverse stroke of striker within preset range, stepless changing of working liquid pressure is provided at which striker stroke change-over from reverse to straightly stroke is effected by changing preliminary compression of set-point resilient element whose rigidity is considerably less than rigidity of working resilient element. Proposed machine contains impact energy control device and impact unit including housing which accommodates first working chamber, striker and resilient working element. Control device is made in form of housing accommodating second working chamber communicating with first one, and hydraulic grip furnished with set-point resilient element with device for changing its preliminary compression. EFFECT: enlarged sphere of application of proposed method and functional capabilities of machine, simplified design and improved convenience of control. 5 cl, 1 tbl, 2 dwg
