FIELD: biotechnology. SUBSTANCE: invention can be used when cleaning easel painting objects, wall paintings, sculpture, and architectural monuments. Surface of an object to be restored is preliminarily impregnated with buffer solution, pH 7-8.5. Thereafter, the object is subjected to consecutive treatment first with enzyme or enzyme mixture solution, which hydrolyzes nonprotein compounds, and then with solution of proteolytic enzyme or a mixture of proteolytic enzymes. Surface of the object is then washed and finally covered with formulation containing quaternary ammonium and/or polyhexamethylene-guanidine compounds. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency due to reduced cleaning time and labor expenses, ensured long-time safe keeping of objects, and widened spectrum of treatable materials with reduced risk of damaging surface layer thereof. 3 cl, 3 ex
