FIELD: non-ferrous metallurgy, namely designs of cathode casings of aluminum cell.
SUBSTANCE: cathode casing includes metallic bath faced inside, having lengthwise walls, end walls and bottom and mounted in rigid carcass formed by means of cross one-piece welded ribs, horizontal end rigidity bands having vertical and horizontal rigidity ribs and binding sheet. Horizontal end rigidity ribs are mounted with formation of interruption zone in horizontal plane from end wall of casing; their width consists 1/3 - 2/3 of width of end wall of casing. Metallic cover plate is secured to lower portion of vertical rigidity ribs from side of lower part of binding sheet and it is extended onto end wall. Between said vertical ribs additional vertical cooling ribs with height equal to that of side block of lining are arranged. Number of said additional vertical cooling ribs may be 1 - 4. Width of metallic cover plate is 100-200 mm, its thickness is in range 6 -20 mm.
