FIELD: non-ferrous metal metallurgy, namely equipment of shops for aluminum production by electrolysis, particularly construction of cathode casing of aluminum cell.

SUBSTANCE: cathode casing includes metallic bath lined inside and having longitudinal walls with windows for outlet of cathode rods, end walls and bottom. Bath is mounted inside rigid carcass formed by cross frames embracing longitudinal walls at set pitch along length of casing. Lengthwise frames are mounted in addition in casing; they embrace end walls and bottom and crosswise rigidly join cross frames one to other in the same level along bottom of casing. In upper end part casing is provided in addition with rigid link members for joining boundary cross frames with longitudinal frames. Inner metallic cover plate is rigidly secured in addition to sheets of bottom and to longitudinal walls in zones of passing cross frames; or said cover plate is arranged with possibility of free engagement. Longitudinal frames may have openings under bottom of bath. Thickness of inner metallic cover plate consists of 1.0 -1.5 of thickness of link members; its width is no more than 1.0 of frame width. Longitudinal frames may be mounted at with interruption in central portion. Longitudinal wall may be joined with bottom by dihedral angle whose planes are inclined one relative to other by angle exceeding 90°. Said joint is arranged lower than windows for outlet of cathode rods on longitudinal wall of bath.

EFFECT: increased useful life period, improved capability for repairing of cathode casing, intensified operation modes of cell.
