FIELD: refractory materials.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the development of refractory materials and can be used in silicate industry, metallurgy, heat and power engineering in making high-temperature heat units. The composition for protective cover of refractory materials comprises 50-60 wt.-% of liquid sodium glass as a binding agent, a mixture of dust trapped in electric filters of ore-thermal furnaces in manufacturing titanium sponge and ground waste of carbon electrodes in magnesium manufacturing of fraction 0.074 mm as a filling agent taken in the ratio = (0.7-0.8) : (0.3-0.2). Method for preparing the protective cover involves applying the indicated composition by brushes or paint sprayers for 2-3 layers with exposition at room temperature after applying each layer for 2-3 h. Thermal treatment is carried out using jet-flame burners or in the course of initial period of the direct exploitation of heat unit. Total thickness of composition is 0.1-0.2 mm. Method for making heat unit is carried out by laying single refractory articles using laying solution as an aqueous suspension of a binding agent containing the composition of indicated composite and taken in the amount 15-30 wt.-%. Before laying a protective cover is applied on working surface of single articles using method indicated above for preparing this cover. Invention provides improving technology for making high-temperature heat units, enhancing stability of protective cover and its adhesion properties and to reduce consumption of materials.
