FIELD: plastic metal working, namely rolling sheets in wide strip rolling mill.

SUBSTANCE: process comprises steps of one or several rough reduction of heated blank along upper and lower faces in vertical direction and along lateral faces in horizontal direction in rough rolling stand group; further transporting blank to finish rolling stand group of mill; performing several passes for finish reduction of blank in said stand group in vertical direction for producing strip of predetermined size; transporting strip to coiling station and coiling it. According to invention one or several passes for initial rough reduction of blank along lateral face in horizontal direction are realized at mode preventing yielding of surface layer of each lateral face of blank (broadening) in zone of its contact with vertical rolls in direction parallel to roll axes. Value of next rough reduction of blank in horizontal direction at standard mode consists of 0.9 - 0.4 value of rough reduction of blank in horizontal direction during initial passes. All passes for rough reduction in vertical direction are realized at standard mode. Wide-strip rolling mill for sheet rolling includes several universal rough rolling stands with horizontal and vertical rolls of rough stand group, intermediate roller table, several finish rolling stands with horizontal rolls in finish stand group, delivery roller table and group of coilers. Each rolling roll includes cylindrical barrel, journal and wobble. One or several pairs of vertical rolls in first universal rough rolling stands have on working surface of their cylindrical barrels two or more annular turnings. Depth of said turnings consists 0.01 - 0.05 of diameter of cylindrical roll barrel, their width along bottom of each turning consists 0.01 - 0.05 of length of cylindrical roll barrel. Lateral walls of each turning are inclined relative to roll axis by angle 30 - 50 degrees. Turnings are made along roll axis with pitch consisting 0.1 - 0.3 of length of cylindrical barrel of roll.

EFFECT: lowered number of rejections caused by flaws in near-edge zone on front surface of articles.
