SWITCH HEATING DEVICE Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

FIELD: railway transport; permanent way facilities.

SUBSTANCE: invention is aimed at improving reliability of switches operating at snowstorms and snow drifts. Proposed device has underrail base made of heated metal ties closed from end faces by plates and filled with noise-absorbing material, heaters, energy supply system, instruments to control and regulate temperature of heating of switch elements. Heated metal ties are made hollow and are laid in zone of location of switch points and frogs with partial filling of lower zone of inner zone of inner space with noise-absorbing material. Heaters are placed inside heated metal ties in their upper zone. Plates at end faces of heated metal ties are provided with holes with detachable covers for mounting and servicing of heaters.

EFFECT: improved reliability of switches operating at snowstorms, reduced power consumption and encumbering of switches with heating devices.
