METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR METERING OF LIQUID LEVEL IN WELL Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

Abstract RU 2232267 C2

FIELD: well exploration, in particular, method and apparatus for determining liquid level in producing well.

SUBSTANCE: method involves emitting acoustic pulse; registering echo signals in real time mode followed by separating of echo signal characteristic of liquid level out of combination of signals received; generating acoustic pulse by letting part of gas to flow into closed fixed-volume vessel cavity for providing instantaneous and short-time depression in well gas cavity; determining liquid level as quotient of dividing gas cavity volume in well shaft by area of annular section between casing column and pump-compressor pipe column; determining volume of gas cavity on the basis of volume of gas urged to flow into closed volume during depression, gas pressure in well before depression is created in well shaft, and gas pressure established in well and in fixed-volume cavity, when flowing of gas into said cavity is completed and equilibrium state of gas is established, from mathematical expression. Apparatus has industrial controller, fixed-volume overflow vessel with inlet and outlet branch pipes, each equipped with electropneumatic valve, said valves being controlled by industrial controller. Apparatus is further provided with pneumatic line adapted to provide for communication between well gas cavity and overflow vessel via electropneumatic valve mounted on inlet branch pipe of overflow vessel. Pneumatic line is equipped with pressure sensor, whose output is connected to industrial controller.

EFFECT: reliable method and apparatus, increased efficiency in controlling of producing well operation.
