FIELD: method for destruction (cutting, drilling) of rocks and artificial hard materials, such as concrete, ceramics etc by means of electric pulse discharges in mining and construction industry, may be used in roads, airports, proving grounds etc repair works.
SUBSTANCE: method involves using walking two-rod electrode apparatus; selecting electrode motion pitch between two electric pulses from the following condition: m=(0.33-1.11)·(Ws·L)/Wopt1, where Ws=(0.9-3.0)·Wopt1/n, where m is electrode motion pitch, mm; Ws is energy stored by pulse source, J; L is electrode gap, mm; Wopt1 is optimal destruction energy per one pulse for rock with Protodiakonov coefficient of 5, J; n is number of pulses in electrode gap.
EFFECT: reduced weight and size characteristics of high-voltage pulse source owing to reduced energy stored by high-voltage pulse source, and wider range of uses.
