TECHNIQUE ESTABLISHING PRESENCE OF DEPRESSOR ADDITIVE IN HEAVY DISTILLATE AND RESIDUAL FUELS Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

FIELD: study of hydrocarbon fuels, predominantly, methods determining depressor additives in them, qualification tests and identification of fuels.

SUBSTANCE: technique establishing presence of depressor additive in heavy distillate and residual fuels includes taking of sample, determination of flow temperature tf.in of this fuel, heating of sample under vacuum in flask with discharge tube to temperature of termination of boiling that is measured in neck of flask at moment of appearance of white steam in discharge tube and of simultaneous drop of temperature in absence of drops from discharge tube of flask, termination of heating when temperature of flask with residue achieves room temperature. Distilled part of fuel is mixed with residue in flask, flow temperature tf.mix of mixture is found and if value of flow temperature tf.mix of mixture rises relative to value of flow temperature tf.in of initial sample judgment is made on presence of depressor additive in fuel. Proposed technique is simple and has low prime cost, its realization does not require additional indicators and expensive equipment.

EFFECT: widened assortment of tested fuels with high authenticity of determination of presence of depressor additives.
