TERRACE FORMING METHOD Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

FIELD: agriculture, in particular, terracing of slopes for planting of fruit and other crops, including forest plantations.

SUBSTANCE: method involves cutting terraces while providing hollow steeps with reverse bed gradient of 3-4 deg, without shoulders; culturing hollow part of bed with humus layer of lower half of superadjacent strips; cutting humus layer and shifting onto bed by one or two-staged uniform progressive motions of general-purpose dozer along terrace strips. Cultured terrace bed includes strips having width making 0.5 the height of hollow steeps adjoining slant of each terrace. Said strips are closed with time by ground of collapsing vertical slants and by small amounts of spilled ground of superadjacent terraces, said spilled ground being later overgrown with grass. Angle of slide of spilled slants is greater than angle of rest of supersteep slant overgrown with grass. During cutting of humus layer of superadjacent strips, 0.5-1 m width strip of sod is left undisturbed in its lower part, said undisturbed strips being adapted to serve as temporary support for newly-cut ground of spilled slants of second and subsequent terraces.

EFFECT: increased efficiency in terracing of slopes for planting fruit and other crops.
