FIELD: instrumentation engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method and device are used for calibrating iterative resistive switching matrix connected to small keypad of portable electronic device that has case and cover, the latter being free to set in open or closed position. Reference voltage VREF is applied to first contact of calibrating element and second contact of the latter is connected to ground when cover is shifted from open to closed position. Calibration resistance of calibrating element is found when reference voltage is applied to first contact of calibrating element and its second contact is connected to ground. Calibration resistance may correspond to input impedance of resistive matrix when not a single button connected to small keypad is depressed. Signals arriving from iterative resistive switching circuit are calibrated when cover is in closed position in compliance with calibration resistance.
EFFECT: provision for adapting matrix to flip-phone type portable devices and movable-cover portable computers.
