SUBSTANCE: proposed portable multicomponent self-configuring electronic device has at least first electronic component and second one, as well as hinge that joins both components together; hinge is free to move in more than one plane of first electronic component relative to second one wherein portable multicomponent self-configuring electronic device is free to self-configure mode of operation basing on relative position of first electronic component to second one. Proposed method includes two stages of determining relative position of first electronic component to second one and choosing mode of device operation basing on their relative position. Keyboard provided with plurality of keys has at least some of first keys active in first mode of operation and other set of keys active in second mode of operation, the latter being essentially at least some of first keys.
EFFECT: enlarged functional capabilities.
