Abstract RU 2233989 C1

FIELD: mechanical engineering; gas-turbine engines.

SUBSTANCE: according to proposed method of starting gas-turbine engine by means of electric starter or starter-generator connected to power source through starting resistor, voltage across electric starter or starter-generator is increased by discrete signals by cutting off starting resistor and/or changing over power sources from parallel to series connection. At initial moment of starting, series winding of electric starter or starter-generator is energized, and energizing of field winding is delayed. Minimum tolerable threshold voltage across series winding is used as discrete signals. When gas-turbine engine attains speed required for stable operation and before moment of changing to idling condition, starter-generator is shifted to power generation. Threshold value of voltage is determined by measuring current and resistance of series windings of electric starter or starter-generator.

EFFECT: provision of reliable starting at critical conditions when using weak energy sources and at low ambient temperatures.
