FIELD: wave-guide optics.
SUBSTANCE: apparatus includes wave-guide having core and envelope whose part is formed of liquid crystal and is arranged between electrodes. Wave -guide mode interferes on periodic changes of refraction index along axis of wave-guide. Said changes are provided due to using chiral liquid crystal with helical symmetry with axis of helix oriented along axis of wave-guide. Spectral range of mode conversion is defined by pitch of chiral liquid crystal helix. Said pitch is changed at applying outer field.
EFFECT: enhanced characteristics of frequency-selection conversion.
