FIELD: nuclear power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed fuel assembly designed for use in cores of nuclear reactors having thermal capacity of 1150 to 1700 MW, in particular for VVER-440 reactors, has hexagonal fuel element bundle placed in spacer grids disposed lengthwise of fuel assembly, as well as top nozzle and bottom nozzles. Top nozzle and spacer grids are rigidly fixed to supporting members made in the form of zirconium-alloy angle plates. Plate line width is chosen between 0.117H and 0.177H, where H is final size of fuel assembly. Such design of fuel assembly provides for higher stiffness of fuel element bundle and fuel assembly as a whole, eliminates collision between fuel element bundle and can, and reduces nonuniformity of energy release throughout fuel assembly volume.
EFFECT: enhanced quality of fuel assembly.
