FIELD: electrical machines; traction drives of vehicles, load-lifting machines, machine tools, oil-extraction and compressor pumps.

SUBSTANCE: proposed method involves following procedures. Inverter is supplied with dc voltage from power supply and phase windings are connected through the latter to respective circuits thereby affording ac current through phase windings, dc current being fed from this power supply. Field winding is connected to supply voltage circuit in series with semiconductor switch and to phase windings so that instant value of field current is proportional to sum of absolute values of phase currents.

EFFECT: provision for attaining valve motor characteristics equivalent to those of series-wound commutator machines.
